Sharon is the Founder of Central Florida Public Affairs (CFPA), a practice specializing in government relations and community engagement throughout Central Florida.

With almost two decades of experience working with the Central Florida Community, Sharon specializes in creating local government and community relations strategies as well as building coalitions to address complex issues locally and in Tallahassee.

Sharon Smoley also serves as the Vice President of Advocacy and Public Policy for the Orlando Economic Partnership. In her role, Sharon is responsible for creating policy on behalf of Central Florida’s business community within the 7-county region. She also leads advocacy efforts and strategy on a local, state and federal level.

Sharon most recently served as the Florida State Director of Government Affairs for Charter Communications. There, she led a team whose responsibilities included local and state government relations strategies in the State of Florida.

Prior to joining Charter Communications, Sharon Smoley served as the Manager of Government Relations for Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts (WDPR) where she was responsible for the company’s government relations strategy in Central Florida. A professional with a broad depth of experience in national and international affairs, she also supported WDPR’s worldwide Industry Relations efforts.

Sharon has also served in several government affairs and external relations positions with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, KB Home and the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission.  Sharon is fluent in Spanish and has deep relationships with leaders in the growing Hispanic community.

Sharon believes strongly in giving back to the community through service. She currently serves on the board of the Downtown Arts District, is a member of Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center’s “Circle” and is a graduate of the 37th class of Leadership Florida, Leadership Orlando Class of 65, Leadership West Orange and Leadership Osceola.

Previously, she served on the boards of The West Orange Political Alliance, Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association’s PAC, The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando Government Relations Committee, Home Builders of Metro Orlando PAC, Howard Philips Children’s Advocacy Center, East Orlando Chamber of Commerce, and is a past Chair of the Kissimmee/Osceola Chamber of Commerce. Sharon was selected as a Florida Delegate to the 2012 Democratic Convention and has been recognized by the Orlando Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.

Sharon graduated with her Master’s in Business Administration from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in 2006. She received her bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a major in political science and a minor in Hispanic studies.
